The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) sets scientifically-based goals that are aligned with the latest climate science and aimed at achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement: limiting global warming to well below 2°C or 1.5°C. Companies from different sectors and sizes can join the SBTi and set a scientifically-based target to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. LCL has joined the SBTi and will strive to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of its data centers.

Companies that join SBTi must formulate emission reduction targets that contribute to achieving the climate goals. In addition, these targets must be measured, reported, and improved regularly. Fortunately, SBTi provides guidelines and tools to help companies with this. The initiative also works closely with scientists and other experts to ensure that these guidelines are scientifically-based and remain ambitious and achievable.
