The sustainability of data centers varies greatly. Some are consciously designed to operate as efficiently as possible, with energy-efficient servers and cooling systems, and renewable energy sources, while others still consume large amounts of electricity and fossil fuels.
To continue meeting the growing demand for digital services in an environmentally responsible way, sustainable operation of data centers is becoming increasingly important. That's why LCL wants to be an example for other Belgian and European players. We are the first Belgian data center company to join the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and the tenth Belgian company to commit to the most ambitious climate target: limiting global warming to 1.5 °C. We are even part of the foundation of the Climate Neutral Data Center Pact to support the European Green Deal.
