LCL has just achieved the EcoVadis Platinum medal. This recognition places us in the top 1% of telecom companies worldwide in terms of sustainability. EcoVadis is an international platform that assesses companies on sustainability across four categories: environment, labour rights, ethics, and procurement. Last year, we were already the first Belgian data centre to be awarded gold. We have now improved last year’s score (71%) to 89%. CEO Laurens van Reijen: “From the board of directors to every employee in our data centres: everyone holds sustainability close to their hearts and acts accordingly. That is the true foundation and the reason why the many dimensions of our ESG story are an integral part of LCL.”
We have made significant progress on multiple fronts. The score for ‘sustainable procurement’ rose from 50% to 90%. In the area of environment, we grew from 80% to 90%, while our score for ‘labour and human rights’ increased from 70% to 90%. We also made progress in ‘ethics,’ improving from 70% to 80%.
Our progress is the result of hard work and targeted actions, such as achieving certifications, reducing our CO₂ emissions, and providing better support for our employees. EcoVadis Platinum confirms that LCL is on the right track and motivates us to further enhance our sustainable impact. With this recognition, LCL remains committed to being a leader in the sector and a model for sustainability worldwide.
In total, more than 150,000 companies worldwide have been assessed by EcoVadis.
